Celebrating 150 Years of ERNI
MicroSpeed® Power Module
Power to the Board!

150 years of ERNI

Mrs. ERNI and Martin Seidenfuss (CEO ERNI Germany) at ERNI Germany's 50th anniversary

After last year's 50th anniversary of ERNI Germany, we are now celebrating 150 years in Switzerland. ERNI Elektrotechnik AG, Switzerland - the first company established by our founder Ernst Erni in 1947 (originally as ERNI & Co., see our Company History) is celebrating its 60th anniversary and Mrs. Erni, the wife of our founder just turned 90 years young. Together, many of us here at ERNI will be celebrating with them this coming weekend in switzerland.

So let us roll out the red carpet and wish Mrs. Erni all the best and most of all, good health. Here's to the next 150 years!

MicroSpeed® Power Module

MicroSpeed® Power Module

This complementary range of Power Module connectors, with 2.0 mm contact pitch, fulfils the need for miniaturized and high reliability power systems, and offers a large number of options for mezzanine applications. One of its unique features is its high current-carrying capacity in comparison to its small size. Therefore, the system is ideally suited for use with small, high performance devices such as CPUs, drives, LCD panels, etc.

Available in a variety of heights, the Power Modules enable stacking heights from 5 mm to 20 mm (as does the MicroSpeed signal connector). Subsequently, almost every need for different PCB arrangements can be addressed. Another major advantage is the multiple-connector mating capability, which allows the mating of more than one connector pair at the same time.

The SMT connectors meet all the needs of fast automatic assembly machines. They are manufactured and 100% inline quality checked by machine to ensure high coplanarity and optimized soldering. The layout is designed with an optimal solder pad size to guarantee high retention forces. The integrated 3-point double beam female contact ensures durable low-contact resistance over the whole lifecycle. The contacts are post plated, leaving no bare edges in the contact and solder areas. The connectors are equipped with polarized positioning pegs, and the connector plating is lead free, complying with the European RoHS directive. The MicroSpeed Power Modules are specified for a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

Power to the Board!

ERNI Power Taps

Available with pressfit and solder termination, ERNI Power Taps provide a robust and cost efficient way to bring power to your board. Two-row power taps were developed by ERNI for connecting power supply lines. Cable plugs or terminal sockets can be optionally used for cable termination. The power taps can either be connected via screw or plug-type terminals with cable lugs or flat terminal sockets.

All variants are available with different connection threads (M3, M4, 6-32 UNC and 8-32 UNC). By employing a new material, the developers succeeded in increasing the maximum current-carrying capacity for the 6-pin version (6 press-fit pins) from 30 to 40 A (at 20 °C) to match the rating for the 10-pin version. The maximum permissible operating current depends on the characteristics of the specific PCB and on the cable termination.

The 10-pin Power Taps with press-fit termination are also available with "faston" termination. All the new Power Taps - including the "faston" versions - comply with the RoHS requirements.
